Hibernate

Hibernate is probably the most widelly used ORM - Object Relational Mapper.
This way it is very important because then a lot of applications will just work with Infomix.

I will start by compile Hibernate with the pach submitted, execute some tests and make the hibernate jar available for download somewhere.

In fact, the most important step is made...to change and test the code, but we need to press Hibernate to apply the patch to the main distribution. The soon the better, because the applications use hibernate jar directly, and it will be much more easy if it's available in the distributions.

Coordinating and increasing efforts

IIUG have a new page where it centralizes efforts on having more and more open-source software ported to work well with Informix.

This are great news to our community. It's very important to address several issues:

• Not let MySql enter in Informix customers. They need to continue to rely on the database without needing more DBA work.
• Provide feedback to IBM on small SQL syntax that Informix does not fulfill.
• To delight Informix customers with applications that are out there and proved to be very usefull to the organizations.

Using this blog I will try to keep Informix community informed about the evolution of the projects, tips on configuration and companies that provide services on the products with Informix.
